For as big as Lake Norman is, North Harbor Club seems to be the only nice restaurant on the Lake. Located in Davidson just off exit 30, it is conveniently located right off the interstate and super easy to get to.
I had the Stuffed Chicken ($19) which is described as Pan-cripsed chicken breast, filled with roasted tomato-artichoke-spinach, served with smokey bacon Mac-n-cheese. It was pretty good overall. The chicken was juicy, the cheese was gooey, and the roasted tomato, artichoke, and spinach gave it a nice flavor.
The Mac-n-cheese was cooked perfectly and the perfect amount of cheese. The little bacon bits found in it are like little nuggets of gold. Bacon just seems to make everything better!
Now I will say, while this Mac-n-cheese is good, it certainly doesn’t compare to the Lobster-mac-n-cheese found on their appetizer menu. That one is….. mmm…mmm delicious. I didn’t order it tonight, but the next time I do, it deserves it own post!
Jason had the Cornmeal Crisped Catfish ($16) and decided to swap out the Asiago-Basil Potato Cake with their Jalapeño Creamed Corn. The Catfish is served with Green-Chile Tartar sauce and Carolina Coastal Style Slaw. Jason absolutely loves the catfish here and orders it just about every time we come. The fish is light, has a great crunch and not overly fishy.
I like seafood but not too crazy about really fishy dishes so if you’re like me, this is a great choice. Jason and I both did not like the slaw very much because it there seemed to be too much vinegar, but this isn’t something that should stop you from ordering this. And who knows, you may like it.
Overall, North Harbor Club is an excellent choice for a midweek dinner, special occasion, or just to order take-out. It’s not overly expensive but also not cheap enough where you can eat there 3 nights a week. For value, food quality, and atmosphere, its one of the best places you can find around Lake Norman.
